So every dancer claims that dancing is tiring. Well it is!
We'll always start with warm ups this class. It is prob the most important and tiring part of dance. As dancers, we ve to train our back abdomal arms legs calves wrists ankle neck shoulder and every muscle you can think of in your body. Dramatic much? No no no I'm merely stating facts! People think that only track and field- ers can run, we as dancers have stamina too alright!
Ballet
Well all these pictures were taken from my CCA. Obviously, not all dance classes follow very much the same schedule perhaps similar to what i ve stated above. For ballet which is taken outside school, we've to do our own warm ups before the class starts. Which means that we 've to reach prob about a lil 15 mins earlier to stretchhhhhhh. Especially ballet, we ve to appear tall and strong, at the same time graceful. Kinda an oxymoron huh, but it's true. Even standing tall, doing nothing requires loads of muscles from the stomach and back, the butt and thigh. Ahahaha just thinking about me doing it awes me so much. Im now kinda pleased with myself(; well, i can do actions with a 'square hip and shoulder' (which is something a ballet teacher always say, tgt with: stomach in, put your weight in front. blah blah)
Flexibility
Here's another important key to dance; flexibility! Based on my experience, flexibility comes with muscles. Just like how our muscular and skeleton system work tgt. Even if you can do an over split of what ever scary shix, you will not be able to lift ya leg up high with grace, or at least, ease :P challenge arh? However hey dudes, we re DANCERS, not gymnasts. So don t expect flips or stuff. Dancers are flexible so that we can dance with grace ease and maybe yeah so that it appears..appealing. Flips and cart wheels are not our game, so yeah(; some dancers are maybe able to do them, and if so, PRAISE THEM, unless they re gymnasts too.. We've our own pride too okay..often comparison to the gymnasts does make us feel inferior to them. Please, on behalf on the rest of the dancers, I'm here to say I'm a dancer, not a gymnasts. harping on it yeah, coz it s just that heart breaking to hear that gymnasts are soooo much better than us. Dancers bring the soul in a dance, while gymnasts bring out, merely, the skill.
Music
Dancing without music is like playing computer games without a key board- simple! It s the beats from the music which provides us with the momentum that we need and danceeeeee, flowing naturally letting our inner self take over as our passion overflows. It s kinda a tiny weeny bit hard for dancers with no music background to catch the beat and rhythm, just don t blame us(;
